ABOUT US
FIMTF strengthens statewide resilience by building capacity to support specialized incident management teams serving Florida communities in times of chaos.
ORGIN STORY
In early 2026, Florida Incident Management Teams Foundation (FIMTF) co-founder Christopher Todd was driving up Florida's Turnpike en route to an Incident Management Teams summit when one of the main vehicles in the convoy suffered a mechanical issue and had to drop out of the procession. That vehicle never made it to the destination. Had this been a real-world incident, mission-critical equipment and supplies would not have been available for response operations.
Â
Later that night, as the team went to dinner, he discovered there was no funding available to cover their meal. Watching first responder team members come out of pocket to pay for their dinner while traveling away from home for a training event, he decided he needed to take action.
After dinner, Chris discussed the situation with Nigel Baker. It was then that the concept for the FIMTF was born as a non-profit organization designed to support Florida Incident Management Teams and help ensure they were properly equipped and prepared to respond to any critical incident or catastrophic event.
